Cables, Volume 1 Cover

Having edited Twists and Turns®: The Newsletter for Lovers of Cable Knitting for the past 7 years, Janet knows a thing or two about cables. In Cables, Volume 1: The Basics, she shares with you a wealth of information about basic cabling techniques, presented in a logical, easy-to-follow format. The book is divided into chapters based on the number of stitches in each cable—two, three, four, etc.—and includes detailed, step-by-step photos to guide beginning cablers through the process. Intermediate knitters will love the nearly 150 cable stitch patterns presented in both charted and written form. And advanced cablers will find lots of ideas for using cables and creating brand new ones.

Aran Sweater Design Cover

Janet's original book, Handbook of Aran Sweater Design, has been completely revised, expanded, and professionally printed. Now titled Aran Sweater Design, this 180-page book is THE comprehensive reference guide for any knitter who has ever wanted to make an Aran sweater. This book will show you how to choose cables that look good together, how to lay out a combination of cables on a sweater, and give you detailed instructions for knitting that sweater in a variety of styles—dropped-shoulder, peasant-sleeve, set-in sleeve, raglan sleeve, or vest. If you're not quite ready to design your own Aran, follow one of the patterns Janet has created for you. Either way, you'll create an heirloom to be worn for years to come!

Finishing Book Cover

Janet wrote this book as a way to solve her frustrations over finishing sweaters. Most knitting books and patterns have only limited information about finishing techniques. Many assume a level of sewing ability that today's knitters simply do not have. Janet learned mostly by trial and error, and she thought it was ridiculous that other knitters should have to do the same. Janet self-published this book because—after two years of submitting proposals to editor after editor—no publishing house was willing to take it on as a project. Although each one told her that her proposal was sound and well-written, the consensus from the editors she spoke with was that the topic was "too boring" and "no one would pay money for this kind of book." Despite their predictions, Janet sat down at her computer and wrote this book. The response has been overwhelming! Janet says, "I have always felt that knitters would hate finishing less if someone showed them the proper techniques."
